The National Organizations for Youth Safety® (NOYS®) mission is to promote youth empowerment and leadership by building partnerships that will save lives, prevent injuries, and promote safe and healthy lifestyles among all youth.  Due to this mission, NOYS® has created this privacy policy statement to demonstrate our organization's commitment to your privacy. NOYS® does not actively market to children, and we never knowingly ask a child under 13 to divulge personal information.  We collect the following general data that is not personally identifiable information.

We collect this information through the NOYS® Global Youth Traffic Safety Month™ (GYTSM™) registration process. This registration process collects addresses, phone, and e-mail addresses for contest award information processing, this information is required by the user to ensure accurate follow-through. 

Information Provided by Users
You do not have to give us personal information to visit our website.  If you choose to provide us with additional information about yourself through an email message, form, survey, etc., we will only maintain the information as long as needed to respond to your question or to fulfill the stated purpose of the communication, such as notify you when your submission is posted, or send you information you have requested and opted in to receive.  The information will not be disseminated to third parties for any personal and/or marketing purposes. However, all communications addressed to the Webmaster are maintained, as required by law, for historical purposes.  These communications are archived on a monthly basis, but are also protected by the Privacy Act which restricts our use of them, yet permits certain disclosures.
Information Collection and Cookies
Information collected by the NOYS® website is utilized solely for the purpose of conducting business, sharing information and providing online services.  This information is never shared outside our organization, or with parts of the organization that utilize a different privacy policy.  Personal information, including name, address, email, phone, etc., is provided on a voluntary basis only.  We may use this information to respond to submitted requests or to provide requested services.  We do not use cookies on this website, nor do we sell, rent or otherwise transfer any information received.  A cookie is a small text file that our web server places on a user’s computer hard drive to be a unique identifier. Cookies enable us to track usage patterns and deliver customized content to users.  Our cookies do not have an expiration date. Our cookies do not collect personally identifiable information. 

As you browse through the website, read pages, or download information, we may gather and store certain information about your visit automatically.  This information does not identify you personally.

The NOYS® website offers voluntary submission of contact information so that respondents may receive promotional e-mails and alerts. Whenever these emails are issued, NOYS® ensures that receivers have the ability to unsubscribe to the mailing list and not receive any further mailings. 
Children Under 13 
NOYS® does not collect or maintain any information from individuals we actually know are under 13 in order to protect their privacy. Our website is of general content in nature and is not directed specifically to children in this age group.  We encourage all parents to assist their children with accessing information via the web.

National Organizations for Youth Safety® (NOYS®) maintains this website in order to provide you with information about our work, and to enable you to interact with us online.  This statement describes NOYS’® treatment of information you provide through our website, and the limitations placed on your use of the information and technology we provide at the website. YOUR USE OF THE WEBSITE CONSTITUTES YOUR AGREEMENT TO THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THIS STATEMENT.

NOYS’® website has several features. In addition to providing descriptions of our goals and how we collaborate with companies and youth across the country, the website provides you with the opportunity to find out more about our organization. The website also gives you the opportunity to take action and get involved in spreading the word about youth safety.

Throughout this statement of policies and agreements, you will see the terms "NOYS®," "we," "our," and "us" - these terms refer to National Organizations for Youth Safety®, a Virginia-based non-stock corporation with tax-exempt status pursuant to Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3). A. Do I have to submit any personal information in order to visit the NOYS® website?

We do not ask you to submit personal information if you are just browsing at our website. If you choose to request more information about our services, we will sometimes request personal information (information that allows us to ship this information to you).  For example, if you would like to make a donation or purchase a membership, we will ask you to provide us with personal information including your address, telephone number and other identifying information.

B. What are "cookies," and does the NOYS® website use "cookies?"

Personal information will be used only internally by NOYS® to provide you updates on information you have requested.  We also may in the future use this information to provide you access to various sections of our website that are personalized for your needs.

You do not have to disclose any personal information if you do not want to.  You can always decide not to use those website services or features that require such information.  Our interest is to offer you convenient online services that match your interests - the choice is yours.

F. Does NOYS® share information (personal or cookies) with other companies or organizations?

Our policy regarding personal information is simple: except as provided in this Privacy Policy, NOYS® will not sell or rent any personal information to third parties without telling you in advance and giving you the opportunity to tell us not to share the information.  We make an effort to include a link to this Privacy Policy and Acceptable Use Policy whenever we ask you for personal information.

NOYS® hires third parties to provide certain administrative services - such as processing credit card transactions, preparing address labels, managing databases, and sending mailings - which requires NOYS® to provide third parties with access to certain information.  We make an effort to require all third party service-providers to hold personal information in strict confidence.  While we believe these other companies are upstanding and will treat your personal information responsibly, we don't own or control them.

H. How does the NOYS® website provide security and confidentiality of information?

NOYS® has built in several layers of security into our system.  All online transactions are done on a secure server.  This information remains confidential and is not shared with any outside sources.
